info:
Matt has been working in the
last year or so writing and recording his best record to date: BUCKLE UP, MATTY
P. It's almost finished and you will be owning a copy soon! This record is great
- it features collaborations with brad pedwell (the already familiar FEELIN'
GOOD which inspired an entire nightclub act, and the racy, raunchy 4BIDDEN LOVE)
sam masich (the amazing guitar player who co-wrote a song called MELTING, and
did the guitar work and backing vocals on ORIGIN OF LOVE a cover song from the
movie hedwig and the angry inch) and rose record (who lends her beautiful vocals
on 2NITE). All the songs are elaborately produced with full band, strings, and
lots of interesting little quirks.
reviews (from
garageband.com):
Headache:
This is a fascinating mix of styles: I started thinking Tori Amos on the piano intro (although when the male voice came in, that went by the wayside), but moved on to Elton John or Ben Folds when the stomping piano kicked in near 1:30 of the song. Then there's the singing...excellent, interesting voice, moving from a straightforward croon, slightly reminiscent of the mellower side of Axl Rose, to some unholy James Hetfield/Joe Jackson combination bark on the chorus -- and when I say "unholy," I mean that in a good way! The song has a great dynamic range throughout, well-metered out and not overdone at any point...it keeps you guessing. The light guitar strum in the background serves as a good counterpoint to the piano. Unpredictability serves this song well -- it's one of the best I've heard here yet. And when the song began, I wouldn't have guessed how much I'd like it. And it's really well recorded to boot!
Halloween:
The performance of this sounds great and very professional. The playing is solid and sounds well practiced. The song is great. I love the melody. The vocals sound good but I don't really know what to think of the lyrics. The violinesque sounding guitar is cool and really fits the tone of this song. I love how the drums give the song a marching feel during the "I'm scared" bridge. The production sounds very professional as well. The end sounds extremely cool and original. Reminds me of Radio Head/Pink Floyd but those are two bands to never be ashamed to have elements of. Very original keep it up.
