Review:
Tonight's
show was very interesting, very interesting indeed. The crowd was fun, small at
first but it grew, it grew like a budding garden of beautiful flowers. By the
time Matt & Brad hit the third song of the first set Matt broke the piano,
and it was virtually unplayable. Matt being the musical genius he is, tried to
fix it (with the help of his friend kate) which left a little gap in the first
set. Alas, the piano just broke again! But the show must go on! Choosing
carefully which numbers would still work with the broken piano Matt and Brad
plugged on playing one of the best musical sets of their short short lives! They
debuted GRAVITY, one of brad's metal songs, LIKE A VIRGIN, a Madonna cover which
was played on guitar by brad and sung by matt, and did a really cool medley for
the last song of a vicious TROUBLED which lead into WHOLE LOTTA LOVE by
zeppelin, which lead into RAINING BLOOD, and finally I FOUND GOD.
Set two was fun fun fun! Pure and simple fun! Sam joined matt
and Brad filling in on lead guitar which allowed Matt a chance to play piano
less. This gave the show an interesting sound unlike any other feelin' good - it
was quite neat. Brad debuted LIGHTS UP and SOMEWHERE, two gorgeous acoustic
numbers, and matt did a rocking' SAVANA (complete with a guitar solo from sam),
a super fun BURN THE BLACK DRESS, and an amazing finale of ORIGIN OF LOVE (from
hedwig and the angry inch) which was just matt's gorgeous voice and acoustic
guitar! For an encore, matt brad and Sam jammed and improvised lyrics which
turned into quite an amazing 10 minute song! What a fun night! Oh happy day!
