A HUGE THANK YOU, to all the fans & friends of Feelin' Good

After show: featuring Devon
Review:
Tonight was
a very special night at micky's lounge for three reasons; reason one it was the
25th show, reason two Brad Pedwell performed despite his horrid sickness, and
reason three because it is likely the last feelin' good show ever (due to the
fact that micky's lounge is probably closing). An emotional night it was for
everyone, for Matt & Brad as well as the many fans who showed up to see the
show. It was so busy tonight that there was not even enough room for all the
eager fans to sit!
Brad Pedwell did the best he could while overcoming his
sickness, but unfortunately he wasn't able to sing on all the songs. Matt (or
devon) were ready however, eager to lend a helping hand (or vocal cord!) to a
friend in need and actually FILLED in on a couple moments when brad was feelin'
less than good. For the most part however brad managed well.
Matt & Brad kicked off with a sturdy RESTITUTION - probably
the biggest song at FG, and it was very well received with the audience. Next
Matt performed a rockin' OH GIRL dedicated to Richard, the prettiest girl at the
dufferin! A beautiful piano ballad BED OF ROSES followed which always gets the
audience into it! I mean, who doesn't love a seven minute piano ballad!? huh!?
The rest of set one was nice with WORLD IS WATCHING (with a huge metal ending!)
FEELIN' GOOD, SAVANA, an amazing BELIEVE. A short lil' tip of the hat to John
Henville had the duo performing a number of his songs as a short medley! Also,
Matt & Brad gave out autographed nude photos of ANDY ROY during the show which
kept the audience excited! The closing number MATH CLASS which was even more so
emotional tonight being the possible last show. Matt told a long, queer story
before the song about being in class wanting to shoot people. It was a real
tear-jerker this one it was!
Girl Sandwich this week was packed with fun. It started off
with Shawn (a fantastic singer and a potential canadian idol winner!) singing
YOUR SONG by elton john accompanied by matt on the piano. Then the one and only
(gorgeous) Leonora Record got up on stage and did a couple new numbers with Matt
at the piano, PAIN with matt & brad, and invited Myk up to do one of his pieces!
Set two was a true rip-roarer! Oh yes! BOY OBSERVATIONS
started it off - intense? I don't think you can get more intense than this!
Matt's eyes under the spotlight looked possessed! Brad's crazy hair was dripping
with sweat! It was something else indeed! Never Say Never came next, always gets
the crowd going. It's good to have a fun song like this follow an intense song
like BOBS... Devon did a great job as sound engineer - a shout out to him. He's
a good looking lad, and mark my word one day he will sleep with men! One of the
highlights of this set was a cover of Andy Roy's HOLD ON. Matt took centre
stage, away from the piano and just sang while brad strummed the golden chords
that are HOLD ON. It was quite a performance. Andy Roy would have been proud,
and although he wasn't there he lived on through his naked autographed photos
that matt & brad so kindly distributed! AS I GO ALONG with Rose Record singing
has always been a crowd pleaser and it was again tonight. Rose's vocals were
absolutely superb. They really made up for Matt's shitty singing! Hahaha, just
kidding! Sam Masich came on stage after this and joined Matt & Brad by doing
some wicked guitar solo's. The next tune was a 10 minute jam of
INSECURE/IMMATURE which sounded better than ever. Indeed! This song would knock
yr socks off! It's true! SOMETHING TO LIVE BY was also very powerful. Most of
the audience can really relate when brad screams out "drinkin' alcohol and
smoking some weed".
Another sad thing about this eve is that Kate, one of the
best friends of Matt & Brad is leaving for Thailand for a few months and she
will be missed greatly. Matt & Brad & Sam did a gorgeous cover of Led Zeppelin's
GOING TO CALIFORNIA for her which was so sweet and nice. Sam & Brad's acoustic
guitar picking sounded so pretty over matt's twinkling piano notes.
Brad took a short break after this song leaving the stage to
sam & matt, where once again matt took centre stage and sang while sam played
guitar (and also sang). They did a spectacular ORIGIN OF LOVE from hedwig and
the angry inch, dedicated to Matt's dear sister Ashley. This song was an amazing
performance and the entire audience was weeping (like four year olds who'd just
stubbed their toes for the first time!) Next came the real show-stopper and the
highlight of the set - WIG IN A BOX. Another song from 'hedwig'. Sam & Matt got
the whole crowd singing along on this puppy, and had a huge jam ending with wild
singing and dancing. This song even hailed a standing ovation!
Matt & Brad finished the set with two 'hits' - JULY, and LAY
IT ON ME. Both of which were exquisite performances and a great way to end the
show. But alas, the audience just wouldn't call it quits. They wanted MORE,
MORE, MORE and screamed for an encore. Brad took another short break and Sam &
Matt did Sam's classic hit MADE OF LOVE which is a beautiful song, I don't know
if you - the reader - has heard it, but it's really really nice. It's about love
and stuff. So That went over well. Then brad came back on and for their would be
final number did a Tori Amos medley which was a beautiful solo piano WINTER
(with harmonies!) which lead into their favourite cover to do - A SORTA
FAIRYTALE. This song has been a staple at the FEELIN' GOOD show since night one,
and it was a good way to say goodbye. However the audience, starved for more,
high of the beauty of the performance needed to hear more songs. So Matt & Brad
did a quick fun BURN THE BLACK DRESS, then finished the show in the only way
possible. With FEELIN' GOOD. The whole audience was really into this. when matt
screamed FEEL they all screamed GOOD. FEEL. GOOD. FEEL. GOOD. Devon finished the
night with a couple songs for the After-show. He is a brilliant performer.
Thanks to everyone for being a part of FEELIN' GOOD.
Hopefully it will live on. If not, it's nice to know it went out with a bang.
BANG! BANG!
