Review:
An
interesting gig took place last night. A very interesting gig indeed.... Matt
performed as part of a variety concert at the tsawwassen church with other acts
Brad Pedwell, Hazen Rice, John Henville, Wilderness (devon's band), Reflect (devon's
other band) plus a few more that cannot be mentioned due to space restrictions
on this website (you know it costs a lot to make a website and the more names I
mention the more bandwidth I use (this is a very very popular site!) and the
less money I have in my pocket to get drunk with and the less good I perform if
I'm not drunk, ya dig?) Anyways, on to the concert, shall we!?
Matt and Brad performed together but in separate sets -
Brad's set was sweaty and rockin'! The highlight being the gorgeous Restitution
(minus the money sluts pimps whatever the fuck part because after all we were in
a church!) Intermission was also a highlight because Matt & Brad actually sold a
few CDs! Thanks to all the lovely fans who bought them! Hope your disappointment
isn't too overwhelming when you actually hear them!
Hazen and John opened the 2nd act.... Hazen played the guitar
like a real guitar player. His playing was great... he started with a lovely old
leonard cohen song called I TRIED TO LEAVE YOU (perhaps a hidden message to
matty p!?) and then continued with two of his own hit numbers that got the
audience movin' and groovin' like they never had before. Let me tell you, there
were some collars loosened during this set. John opened with his french song EN
RAISON, and i don't think anybody really understood it. But they clapped along,
which was really neat. It added that flamenco flavour that john's music lends so
well to.
Matt's set was glorious. Simply glorious. He had the
privilege of playing on the black grand piano. The church was a lovely setting
for Matt's beautiful melodies. He opened with TWO new songs that are currently
being recorded. A fun, frivolous A SONG 4 U which is about death in the winter
time. Then came DON'T MAKE A SOUND when matt really got his black little lungs
into action by the end of that number! Woooohooo yeah! Hot damn! Then Brad
Pedwell joined matt onstage gettin' the audience boppin' to BURN THE BLACK
DRESS. They really seem to love that one. I guess you could call it matt's big
'hit'. Perhaps that's cause it's only one minute long! Matt & brad finished with
their feelin' good style performance of MATH CLASS which was written about high
school, and performed last night right beside THE very high school where matt
went, and his musical genius blossomed into what it is today.
We also raised $400 for breast cancer! So you could say matt
saved 400 breasts last night!
