Review:

Matt’s second performance at the historical Railway Club was an enjoyable one indeed! Matt is getting very comfortable playing in public with his band, and this show defiantly proved this! This hour set took place in the beautiful club amongst a crowd of eager fans who were treated to great music all night such as Olympia’s own Andreas Jones, Happiness, and Starlit. It was a beautiful night, great sound setup, great stage, and great lighting. Matt wore a cowboy getup in blue jeans a jean jacket, and a big silver cowboy hat.

Coming on stage at 10:30 and starting with an explosive intro and dramatic ‘country-western-gun-shoot’ on stage act Matt tore into WORTH HIS WHILE which got the audience going! JULY followed and kept the energy going. Next came the new, fun, funky COUNTRY SONG which left the audience screaming for more. Matt’s quirky onstage presence and ability to improvise during songs was prevalent tonight during songs like OH GIRL, AS I GO ALONG and PRIORITY.

Solo at the piano, matt played smashing performances of THE SEAGULL & THE SWAN, pink floyd’s NOBODY’S HOME (touching and beautiful), and the tender NEED TO BREATHE. Coming back onstage with an emotion-filled WILLOW for the first time with the full band (loud drums and all), a vicious LONG TALK followed, and Matt and his drummer john finished the set with JUST IN TIME (FOR XMAS TIME) a gorgeous new song that is not on the album. Matt and Ian came out for an encore of Cat Stevens’ THE WIND on piano and xylophone. A beautiful evening of music.
