Press Release:
Vancouver, BC… Sultry & sinful, bluesy & gutsy with added rock ‘n’ roll, rap finished wiith beautiful melodies and harmonies, ‘Every Single Sin’ is loosely based on the idea of cardinal sins applied to the life of a gay man through songs of lust, shame, greed and pride.
Local Vancouver musician Matthew Presidente is set to release his new album ‘Every Single Sin’ on Feb 9th at XY, along with a full band performance. Matthew explores the sounds of the late 80s/early 90s with vintage synths, beats, guitars and keyboard to create a collection of 9 new songs that speak about single gay life in the heart of the city – where it was all recorded, written and explored. Listen for influences of Tears for Fears, Bauhaus, Bill Idol and Depeche Mode with Matthew’s own inimitable style.
Matthew will perform these songs (along with some classics from his catalogue) in a full band setting to celebrate the release. This show promises to be a lively and exciting performance in the heart of the west end where all of the ‘sins’ can take place.
About Matthew Presidente
A local Metro Vancouver resident, Matthew was raised in Tsawwassen, where he began playing piano at 10 years old. Since then he has gone on to master guitar and percussion, but considers himself a piano player by trade.
Since his debut in 1999, Matthew has been showcasing his original material with standing shows at notable music venues such as The Dufferin Hotel, The Railway Club, The Backstage Lounge, and Numbers Cabaret. No stranger to the Vancouver queer community, his involvement in Vancouver Pride has seen him enthusiastically recognized on the pride MainStage for 12 years running as well as being a featured performer at the International Outgames and at the Plaza of Nations in 2011. Likely the highlight of his career, Matthew was on stage with Patti Smith for a guest appearance – it’s a story!
Matthew’s lust for life and his “out”- going personality makes him a true showman. Always happiest when sharing his talents, be it as a musician or the hospitable Manager at Forage, Matthew’s sunny outlook shines. This is a show not to be missed.
