Pride 2021 Roundup

Pride 2021 is in the books! This year in Vancouver we had a mix of in person events and virtual events. The feeling in the city was electric as people are starting to come back out and mingle and the events were done in a safe and comfortable way so that everyone could enjoy. Kudos to the crew at VPS who put together so many great pop up events and kept the spirit of Pride alive through another challenging year. Here’s a round up of the virtual events I was involved in that are still available to check out! I’ve also included a few of my favourites this year that I wanted to share – click the link to check out the shows:

  • Pride Summer Series – I performed a set live in the VPS Studio which was streamed live to the Vancouver Pride site. I loved this little solo gig and it includes a debut of a new song – ‘A-list’. Also performing the amazing Parlour Panther & Old Soul Rebel.

  • NSPA Show Your Pride Variety Show – The north shore pride alliance put together a fabulous virtual show this year including some amazing drag performers (Connie Smudge! Carlotta Gurl!). I did a special performance of my pride song ‘Rainbow Reaction’ for the event.

  • Matthew Presidente Band Davie Street Party 2017 – As a throwback this year I released (for the first time) the entire set from our Davie Street party show in 2017. The energy on this night was incredible and it’s fun to look back a few years to see how different things were. The set is full band and features appearances from Samantha Mack & Tara C Taylor.

  • Feelin’ Good / Wig in a Box – A new recording of my queer anthem ‘Feelin’ Good’ with my dear friend Pedwell. We re-did this just in time for Pride along with a very special cover of Wig in a Box from the movie Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

  • Vancouver Men’s Chorus Digital Divas – One of my favourite events this year! The talented guys in the VMC self recorded & produced their own numbers for this very entertaining live drag singing show. My partner Cale Tian performs as Wanting Moi and knocks it out of the park!

  • 40+ years of Vancouver Pride History – A very special little documentary put out by VPS outlines the history of Pride in our city. I found this very colourful, informative and touching.
